Unit 1 Finishes
This week the students turned in their first major projects, a genre analyses of texts in their fields. As such, this week was low stress. On Monday, we talked about editing skills and about a few of the formatting requirements for the project, and on Wednesday the students submitted their work.
After the students turned in their projects at the beginning of class, we went over the schedule for the second unit. We then shifted gears, slightly, and started talking about annotated bibliographies. For homework, the students have to read Jessica Safran’s “The Importance of Understanding Genres … and Memos,” and in their reading journals, they have to write a short annotated bib entry that describes Safran’s project.
